This was my first proper attempt at a render away from just messing. I started with his tutorial here at http://www.blenderguru.com/videos/create-a-suspension-bridge/
and then kind of just added some extra bits. Thanks andrew

The only thing that really gets me is the edges of the hole. They make the bridge look like a flat plane when it’s really not. Or is that just a wrong choice of texture? Either way. Good job overall though! Better than anything I could ever do.
I am pretty sure it is meant to be oil. Although, oil is usually slightly iridescent.
If I recall this tutorial is in the old legacy render engine. I don’t remember how to get iridescence in that engine off the top of my head, but I remember it not being too difficult. Actually, there should definitely be something on the internet.
If you did or were to transfer the model over to cycles, here is a fun thread to look through.
It looks like it was done with cycles…
Hey thanks guys. It was with cycles and that is supposed to be oil. I didn’t even think of iridescent so i’ll look into that. Thanks
Heh. Now that you point it out I have no idea how I thought that was a hole.
For that much oil to have spilled out so quickly shouldn’t the barrel be broken or at least badly dented/deformed? Nice idea though. I’ve seen that tutorial around for a while but only just now watched it.
