Animate emission material to fade into tranparency in Cycles

Hi!

I want to make a visible light source (emission) fade away into transparency. Is this possible?
I cant get it to work in the attached file…
Is there something I’m missing?

Mix with a transparent shader and keyframe the mix from 0% transparent to 100% transparent

Still a bit puzzled why transparency doesn’t work for emitters though.

Why do you think there is a transparency shader ? You are just changing the emitter colour, the alpha is irrellavant
