Animated textures in viewport

Hi! So I wanted to try doing some composition of video layers in 3d space. Setting up the scene - that is, projecting the video layers on planes and setting them up in front of a camera - was the easy part. But now I come to realise Blender doesnt like updating animated textures in the viewport very much… whether its playback or I just jump around in the timeline the textures are just frozen. Same in both Eevee and Cycles.

I read somewhere that this is due to optimisation of the playback, and hopefully “would be fixed later in 2.8”. So, sitting here with 2.9, has there come a solution to this?

Nvm! I stumbled myself upon the solution: just enable the “auto refresh” option on the image texture node! :smiley:
