animated water overlaps scenery objects, producing artifacts

hi. i’m having an issue with the way objects in my little scene are interacting.

the water plane has an animated wave modifier, but i would like if it did not intersect with the lily pad object. what’s the best way to get rid of those aliased artifacts along the edges that are being produced by the two meshes overlapping?

i have read very little on soft bodies, fluid simulation, collision, etc. but this is all new to me and i would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

It’s a tricky problem. There are a few different ways you could probably go about it.
Have you tried deleting the faces on the underside of the lillypad that you wont see anyway?

edit: nevermind, i had (somewhere along the way) accidentally duplicated the lily pads, so it must have been 2 objects of the same size competing for the same space. thanks for the help, thread solved!
