animating a car with person inside

OK on the armature bit where you have had to add a Child Of to the upper legs, these two bones should be parented to the back bone, which in turn is parented to the root bone, so these constraints are not required. If you look at the armature I sent in my file you will see the bone parenting - so that will put that right. The scenes look nice, just make the smoke/fire containing cube a little taller so it goes out of camera shot, it will then look better rather than being bent over at the top. You can also add a little more smoke, so the emitter is both fire and smoke.

Don’t clear out the upload manager in BlenderArtists - they will clear them out once they are way out of date, otherwise if you clear them out now, they will disappear from your posts!

okay… thanks… I think when I did the camera movements and changes, I had the flames going out above camera so it looks pretty good… couldn’t figure out how to get more smoke without messing up the flames… I adjust different settings for it but couldn’t get more smoke… I tired and at one point ended up looking really bad so started over again… think I redid it about 6 times…
that’s where I was having problems with sometimes… I did my bone structure like the one you sent me… where the hip bone was upside down from the way I had it… but in mine, the chest wasn’t child of the hips… I tried to make it a child of the hips but didn’t take…don’t know why… I tried to do several times… I added that bone you have at the feet and tried to parent it to the hip bone, and got it to parent okay…keeping offset… but didn’t know how to get it to where when you moved it, the whole body moved… when I went to move it, it was the only thing that moved… do I make it a parent of all the IK bones, like the hands and feet and the head? I had all the upper leg bones as child of the hip… not sure what happened with the one… I had checked the parenting of all the bones you sent in the file to me… and rechecked mine several times to be sure they were right…I think I went over every setting, and keyframes in the file you sent me and even wrote them down  this was the first time I tried to put a driver into the car that was rigged… and do it so he could get out later… Usually in the scenes I create, I’ve never had to get someone out of the car… they were just driving by so always did the top half of the person and joined him to the car… just for the scene… most of my stuff focuses on three main characters who are animals… I write short stories for kids… and was trying to do a little animation to go with some of the stories so decided to try and learn what I could… and sometimes get stuck and not sure how to solve… I sure do appreciate everyone on this site who have helped with different questions I’ve had… I just do this for fun but I do work hard at it for hours a day and sometimes all day long will be at it depending on what I’m doing…

have a wonderful day

This is where you set bone parents, not with CTRL+P…

Just chose the bone you want to be another bone’s parent, and then check the boxes to set whether it inherits scale, rotation, etc.

I like the story, keep up the good work while I am on holiday!

Cheers, Clock.

thank you for the information… I have always used Ctrl+P I wrote down the information
enjoy your holiday take care
