Animating deformations with lattices


Is there a way to turn on/off a lattice during an animation or to reduce its influence to a limited ratio or bounding box?

My problem is that I want to put several different deformations in a path which the character will follow, being deformed alog the path by the specific lattice in that point of the path.

Any hint will be appreciated.

A’ll i know of is that you can animate lattices (I -> lattice), so you could make it deform (insert key), then undeform it, and insert a key, for each lattice.

Remember, this is all i know of, maybe there is a better way.
