Animating energy?

Okay, I feel a bit silly; this -should- be easy, I suspect. But fact is, I have an area light, and I need its intensity (the ‘energy’ slider) to increase during the course of an animation. But when I switch to the IPOs, there is no IPO for energy. In fact, there is no IPO for just about anything! And there is no option of inserting a key for energy if I do it in the 3D view…

Please advise, how do I make the energy of a lamp change throughout the animation sequence?? And please, no tricks for using composition; I need to know how to change it as an animated element (for future uses).

EDIT: No worries, I got it! Changing the available key insert menus based on which other menu the mouse cursor is hovering over… man, I wonder how many weird functions are just under my nose without my knowledge:confused:

At the bottom of the IPO window there is a select box. It defaults to object. Change that to lamp and your set.
