Hi all,
Due to the lack of entries, here is a thread to just celebrate the entry AD-Edge has created for the theme:
Fire meets Water
Well done AD-Edge for taking the time to create an entry.

lol
really great work AD-Edge!
you win! :spin:

Brilliant work. It’s a pain winning in a field of 1, but your anim would’ve probably won anyway, so well done!
Yeh, its not the best winning in a field on just 1!
But at least i get to show what i can do and get some feedback.
So thanks for the comments everyone, and i look forward to future contests.
well, I guess it’s also your own fault AD-Edge… If you make such an entry, other blenderheads can easily chicken out ;D … I know of at least 1 such a chicken :o
Next time, I wont keep track of the challenge, I won’t let your wicked animations mess with my head - just lock myself up in my room and blender the days away, so that I’ll be able to unleash my abonimable animations unto thee!
MUHAHAHA! … err…
So, everyone’s in for the next round, right ?
Yup!
(And some extra text so the forum allow the post!)
Thanks Scraze, and theres no need to hide, lol.
But i agree, more interest would be great! Blendernation, like you said, would be a great place to get some interest. Anyone involved with Blender would usually go there to see the headlines.
Look forward to the future contests.
Ah… it’s nearly June 1st!
Starting from this upcoming round, I’d like to introduce a few variations to the challenge.
a) Rigging+Animation challenge (I’m not sure whether I’ll go ahead with this one yet…) - create a rig for the topic of the month, and make a short animation which demonstrates how well it works. .blend files created possibly released as well, so that others can learn from any clever setups used?
b) Short audio clip (5-10 seconds) - create an animation to go with the audio clip of the month. It may include dialogue (requiring lip-syncing), or music to animate to.
In terms of rules about what your entry must conform to (file size, frame size, etc.):
In terms of PR, we could certainly use more of that. Perhaps a post or two on other forums here, and also on BlenderNation.
EDIT:
It just occurred to me that it might be a good idea to shorten the time that each challenge runs for. Speed-Animation-Challenges have shown that it is possible for a reasonable number of people (2-5) to make 10-20 sec of animation in 60 min, even if the quality is slightly rough. Therefore, a 1-2 week long challenge may be in order…
Comments?
Aligorith
I think that the second one ( b ) sounds like good fun!
‘a’ would also be good though, as I would like to improve my rigging skills (which are hopeless).
Look foward to the next Animation Challenge!
Cuby
How about we run one each alternating week with voting for Anim Rigging going on while Anim Synch is running and vice versa?
How will the winner of the synch contest select the topic for the next?
Ahh… that’s a good idea. Perhaps if the winner of each contest chooses the topic for the next one of that type, then it’d work out.
Aligorith
Thanks, I was thinking about the actual process for a Synch contest winner… Would they pick a topic and the moderator would locate a file, or would they post a sound file of their own and could that cause a lag?
Not trying to discourage, I think a bi-weekly anim contest would be cool, just thinking about planning and maintenance.
id like to see a 1-2 week AC
Yeh, thats an idea Jeepster. 1-2 week animation challenges would make for some pretty impressive results. Would be a good way to really show off both the animators tecniques and the potential of blender. Would also make the AC’s a much more of an event, maybe bringing in some new animators…?
And if we have a sound synching contest on the off weeks, we might be able to pick up some of the fallen “10 second” crowd!
