Got sick of what I was supposed to be doing tonight and had a lot on my mind, so I decided to do some animation for a few hours, which I haven’t done in ages. I used one of Hos’ excellent pre-built rigs from his website since I’m horrible at constructing a rig
Anyway it’s just of a box guy breaking a board with a kick - keyframes with no video reference. It’s nothing special and it’s got flaws, but it took my mind off some other worrisome things, so that’s good :). Dunno if I’ll continue to touch it up any more, but thought I might as well post it.
very good, some things tho:
first: the hands are too stiff in the beginning, they wouldnt stay at exactly the same position all the time.
second:
the going forward step looks a bit weird, i think the weighting is a bit off.
Ar damn, I know I shouldn’t have posted it… Now I have to try to find time to improve it!
On looking at it now (as opposed to at 4am last night…), yeah the weighting does look kinda weird. It should be more over the front foot as the back foot is being moved forward, then transferred to over the back foot when he kicks. A little bit of back foot slippage is ok, but it should happen a bit later on, as a reaction to the forward force of the kick.
The still hands are mainly due to laziness But with the NLA it should be nice and easy to blend a hand moving action over the top.
ztonzy: You obviously haven’t been looking hard enough! Hos has some great stuff at his site (where I downloaded the rig from: http://www.ualberta.ca/~cwant/hosblender/)
Bapsis: Hey that’s a fun idea! A collaborative animation project where everyone can submit their character and rig, and animate a fight scene… You could take turns in animating a move each
You know, it would be even cooler if we could have certain poly specifications for our chars, and download a standard armature set up that already has pre-programed fighting moves. So you can rig your char up, and then upload the finished char to a database that allows you to play your own char in a online blender fighting game, maybe password protected etc… You could rack up points for your wins and losses, it would be alot of fun.
Anywayz, you did the right thing posting, there is nothing wrong with a fresh pair 'o eyes taking a look at it. Its still really good and will be very smooth and sweet when you’ve finished.
Nice anim - if his initial step actually crosses and plants behind and past his left foot, then you can still hit the target without slipping the foot, as well as generating power correctly from the planted foot.
