Animator(s) wanted!

Hi, I’m Xanda Ried and I am a writer and student film maker and currently working on a ‘First Light’ project.
This is a short 10 minute script with no dialogue. It features only a house exterior, a back garden/yard and a living room. There are three characters: ALBERT (Al) – a 78 year old, white male; ALEX (little Al) – Albert’s 7 year old Grandson; and PERCY – Albert’s beloved fish.
The story is a series of technological misadventures based on those of my own grandfather. I am hoping for it to be not too dissimilar to Pixar’s shorts. The final piece will be entered into festivals and competitions throughout the world and will be exhibited before feature films in selected cinemas.
I have just been introduced to Blender and although it is an amazing piece of software and it is available as freeware I don’t have the time to learn to use it to the effect that I am looking for.
I understand that animating is no easy task which is why I would never ask anyone to take this on without payment. If you are interested I would like to see what you are capable of, so please give me some links to have a look at – whoever I choose will need to be good; as I intend on this winning awards!
If the interest is mutual I will send you my details and ask that you come up with a cost for producing a ten minute short. Please do not include your charges on the forum, I will ask you to send those to me privately.
Regards, Xan.

Welcome on Board!

Fixed your font issues :stuck_out_tongue: too bad i’m not an animator, and probably not of the skill level in any other area anyway, hope u do find your guy (or girl) though  goodluck!

A couple of questions:

Have your completed the screenplay? I understand you said it is a 10 minute script, but is it finished?

What about concept art and character sketches? Do you have that? Are you and artist?

And you say you are a writer and a student filmmaker. Do you have any samples of your previous work?

Where exactly are you going to film school?

In short, what do you have to show us - in your first post here we don’t even know you - that you have what it takes to even envision a Pixar quality film as a director.

Next question is, are you planning to direct?

You post calls for an animator. You say you are new to Blender. Are you new to animation? 2D? How about 3D? Do you know anything at all about making a film in 3D and what it takes? Expecially what it takes to achieve a Pixar-quality film.

What you are asking someone to do is not just animate.

You will need:

A modeler

A rigger

A texture artist

Lighting guru

An animator

An Art director.

A sound recorder/editor and technician.

At the very least these things. They can be one person or a few people.

Which brings up the next two questions.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to do this with one or two people?

And what are you prepared to spend?

I would prefer that you be upfront about it when you say you are prepared to pay. Because you are asking someone to basically produce your movie for you on thier time.

Full time, one or two people. pixar quality without dialogue, few sets and characters I would say it is going to take a minimum of 6 months to produce. (By someone highly skilled and qualified in all areas, with knowledge of how to do it quickly) Are you prepared to pay one or two people to sit and work at this full time for that long?

I am intrested in joining this project. I sent yo an email check it;)
