Me and my sister teamed up on a game project and we ran into a dilemma. I don’t have GLSL currently so I can’t use toon shaders, so I have to fake it with textures. Some low poly anime modeling/texturing tutorials and/or anime models would be nice =D
I’m not begging like GIMME ANIME MODELS!!!
I just could use some help as I never really tried at 3d lowpoly anime. Please don’t just flame, I will modify the meshes so it won’t look the exact same (I have reference images)
I’m fine at low poly modeling, but it’s the art of 3d anime. I can draw 2d anime decent but I never attempted anime. I’m almost done with some hair (the easy part)
What do you think about the hair? It’s kinda weird because I need like 10 alpha planes for the hair =/ that’ll lag the game when your in a city of anime people ontop of logic, python, particles, etc.
Modelling an anime character shouldn’t be that different to a normal human model, on low poly… wait, how many polys has a low poly object? For me low poly is like 500 triangles (not quads)…
What do you think about the hair?
I think the hair looks perfect. I won’t change it.

hmm. I see. Well, I’ve noticed that when the camera is closer to an alpha map it tends to lag. However, there is very little lag with alpha maps if they are viewed from a distance. Perhaps you shouldn’t place too many anime characters close to the camera. =)
as you can see, it is high poly, so you will have to model a low poly mesh around it. (retopo could hlep…)
but that should be fine, since you said you weren’t just asking for a free model to be handed to you.
Thank you! I never realized there was a blend! I think I’ll when I get my new computer I’ll use toon shaders. That makes the most sense. That way I have real-time anime shades.
