Another first timer, critique´s appreciated!

I think the scale of the voronoi texture depends on the scale of your model (not sure about that). But I can just provide a file with the shader so you can append it to your scene. (I’ll do that when I am back home, just pm me if I forget  )

I learned to model tires from a paid tutorial, but I have’nt seen this technique in any youtube tutorial so far.
The video course is pretty old and not available for sale anymore, but there is a newer version: click

I did not use the shrinkwrap method yet, since I discovered it after just finishing the car body
But yes, I’d be probably doing it that way. Doubling the basic shape and the adding the holes. But I havent done it yet so I cant give you any tips for that kind of workflow. (but it is also used in the course I linked to)

That might be a good idea since you are in an early stage of learning, sometimes it is best to just start again :).
I did that a lot because I have been doing a lot of mistakes that would have been to hard to correct, and would cause the same amount of work as to model it again.

Jus dont give up

would be great if you could provide that file

Did you actually check out the MasterCG Tutorial series? Already thought about getting them, I´m especially interested in the Materials part, but I´m not quite sure if it´s worth the money with all those free Youtube tutorials out there

Shame on me, totally forgot the file :spin:

Yes, I bought it, and I think it was worth it. There might be a lot of tutorials on YouTube, but this course is really in depth. You wont find a lot of techniques shown in this course on YouTube. Especially modeling the tire was very useful to me, since I couldn’t find a good tutorial, and those who are available are… not very good, or they are outdated.

Here is the Car Paint Shader as promised.
