Okay, i’ve started a small project for the summer. I’m trying to model a more realistic human head, and in time i hope to model a body too. I still need to fix the bad edge loops and remove unnessesary verts, so it is nowhere near finished. But its a start
Small update. I thought maybe you people would like to see a subsuft version without wires, so here goes. I still have too many verts and the neck muscles look strange… i hope to finish her torso today or maybe this weekend, so stay tuned

Wow, pretty nice. I especially am in awe of the detail of the ear and the neck, fantastic start!
Oh thanks, however what i need is a good reference image to fix the collar bone. I can’t do it out of my head because i would like this model to be a bit more photo realistic than my previous models.
For decent reference images it’s a good idea to try stock photos, for example a search on iStockPhoto for “Chest Neck” returns:
http://www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=file&text=chest+neck&filetypeID=&x=14&y=14
Of course you could also use Google Images but previews of stock photos are generally much higher quality.
Thanks for that link adamjean! Much better than the images you find using google. Also when using google it always seems the best pictures are dead. I was afraid i had to visit some kind of adult site (well not really ;)) to find pictures with good lighting, so i can see the shapes more clearly.
Small update. I know i promised you people a full torso, but of course my mouse had to act really strange all weekend and give me double clicks when i was only pressing it once. It drove me crazy! I almost threw the darn thing out of my window! Anyway i guess i have to stop by the mall on my way home today and buy myself a new one, so i can blend my brains out when i go on summer vacation next week

yea, nice start! looks really realistic!
Very good, one thing, the throax under tits looks little odd
Thank you
Thanks, im still not too concerned about the small details yet, its more the overall shape im working on so some things might seem a bit weird

The breasts look to be too low on the torso. Also, they don’t seem to flow into the shoulder and collar bone are well. Not a nice transition there.
The rest looks good and a very nice poly flow.

hmm, there’s a seam on the forehead, but otherwise, really great work
not that i can do anything better, and its looking great, but i agree with bdgm a bit.
At first glance it looks like the rib cage is kinda short and stubby, but i think its just beacuse the breasts are a bit low.
Other than that tiny detail it looks great.
Guitarplay is right, just wanted to make the same comment. The ribcage is too short and needs more smoothing.
ok, so ive been looking around for some good tutorials, and im just wondering what you would suggest to use for modeling a human head and maby body.
It looks amazing, and seing as your doing such a good job, i thought id ask you.
Okay! Thanks alot for all your comments! I think its really great to have a pair of fresh eyes to look at my work and point out the errors, sometimes i just go blind when working on a model.
You are right - they were too low. Also i have made 'em a little bigger - just for you;)
Hehe thanks, but i know. Thats normally something i take care of as the very last thing when working on a model
Yeah, well it wasn’t so much the length of it, but more the shape of it and the placement of the breasts. But you are right, it did make the rib cage look a bit stubby.
You mean what tutorial i think you should use?
Well, i cant really answer that question because i don’t think modeling after tutorials is always that helpful, so i haven’t really followed any myself. I think i learn much more by looking at a wireframe picture of a good model and see how the poly flow is. When im modeling i (as you can se on the pictures) extrude verts or faces in the direction i want to model. That way i have something to follow and dont get ‘lost’ in 3d space
Im sure that answer wasn’t of much help, but you are very welcome to pm me if you think i can be of any help to you.

ok, thanks for the advice, and i know what you mean. I found a preety good one, but its for 3d max and its somewhat hard to follow, but it seams like it probably wont even remember half the steps.
Thanks for the advice, maby when your done and have the time, i would appreceate a wirefram of that model.
Looking great.
the head seems a bit too small for the body…
Small update. In the second picture you can see some of the things i need to fix. The back really needs alot of work…
Hmm, maybe it wasn’t really a good advice at all. I mean we are all different and we all learn in different ways. Also maybe it isn’t that good an idea to ‘study’ my topology, because it really isn’t that good, im still only learning. But on cgsociety.org you can find some really talented people, just look though the forums for wireframes. You can find some stunning stuff there…
yeah i thought so too i’ve made it a little bigger now. Thanks.

One thing to remember, on girls’ lower backs they have two sort of dimples…(the things you learn on the school bus…lol, im only in ninth grade…)
