I was messing around in Blender seeing if I could get a good looking procedural skin shader based on this Cinema4D tutorial and this is what I got. It makes use of nodes and ColRamp for a SSS type effect. C&C welcome
.blend file

Very cool.
Hereās a head Iāve been working on with this shader.
Now only if I had patience to paint a uv-map for the color map for this guy, Iād be in business.
Wow! That looks really great. Thanks!
Yeah, itās nice and I tried to use it myself.
But itās taking almost a minute to render the sphere. What are your render times?
For the sphere, it took me 51seconds. With Threads enabled, it takes 25 seconds.
WARNING nude sphere
hahah j/k
You have to type in āhomepagesā instead of āhomepahesā. This link works.
oops Iāll check my links before posting

It takes 3 minutes on my computer. If you want it to render faster you could turn down the OSA and/or decrease the image size. I purposely put these settings up for the test image.
Thanks for your comments, glad you like it
Hi. I just used your shader on my model and I have to say, Iām impressed. I got pretty good results āout of the boxā so to speak. The skin colour goes red at the terminator, so you get extra āStahlbergā points for that
Linky (Soās not to derail your thread).
@ Gmanx: thats a nice looking render in that threadā¦ and indeed i think this is a good starting point for any skin people are about to do!
