how do i make surfaces from curves in blender? i can do it in maya but in blender…
weell … it’s kinda easier in max with cross-section …
but in blender you
-add surface segment (circle etc) switch to edit and extrude it
-add surface segment, add another, in object mode, join them with J (they need equal no. of points), then switch to edit and press F
and have a coffee. I am having one right now.
i knew that extrude thing, but i want to make a bit more complex surface, for example a vase. i mean in maya i can make a vase from one single curve with construction history. can this be done in blender? like the program “remembers” how the vase was done and if you change a shape of a curve the whole vase changes with it. ps. i drink cofee all the time, and my coffeemaker is overheatened right now
There are lots of tuts on the technique. Basically you add another curve, shape it the way you want the objects profile to be, then enter the second curves name into the object window of the first curve and the bevel datablock.
Or you could do a lathe opp with the spin function. It’s all in the manual.

maybe you would rather go sds - you can use spin (lathe) and warp to shape such things, and do fill betwen parts. As far as I know you can’t do these with curves, unless you prior convert them to meshes with alt[C]. It’s pretty much like in Lightwave, with other names for operations.
