Anxiously Waiting (Toon)

UPDATED IMAGE: Revised lighting and did a little post processing in PS. I also gave the bear some fur and added a SSS shader to her skin.

Here is the the result of my latest project. I wanted to create an image of a teen anxiously waiting for her friends to go out for a day of fun. I wanted to stay simple and rooted in ‘toon’ but with some semi-realistic textures.
I used several inspirations like Andrew Hickinbottom many works, Shadosk’s “A Toon Girl”, “Sara” by Ernesto Ruiz Velasco, and Disney’s “Meg” from Paperman.
Lastly, I want to thank and credit “montedre” for his window model. I found it and a few of the other props on Blenderswap.

I hope you like it.
Let me know what you think.

Nice!

I gotta ask, is that the blendercookie bear sat in the corner? It was the first thing I ever attempted in blender, using jonathans tut’s.

Thanks kettlefish!
I found this bear at Blenderswap. It was called “Burlap Bear” by manitislate and released under CC-0 licensing.

ah. I think it comes from a tut Jonathon Williamson did some time ago. Like I said it was the first tut I ever did in 3D graphics, so I’ve got fond memories of the little guy. I’ll have dig out the render I did using the Octane render demo.

Anyway back on topic. Nice character, in a natural pose. I find it hard to do toon stuff, cause I can never get the muzzle and nose right.

i like it a lot… the pose of the girl is so strong it tells the whole story! beautiful. i like the whole as it is in a sense simplified, and yet varied. good work!

Cycles or BI?

It’s done with cycles. This is the first I have tried to use cycles. I was afraid it would be difficult but I was wrong. Not that I know its capabilities well but I really like it.
