It isn’t Dreamweaver but it works ok. Make sure you validate all of your html using one of the validation services on the net. There are a few quirks. Example, you can’t change the font face using WYSIWYG, you’ll have to edit the FONT tag’s manually.
Hell, if you want free, you could also try Frontpage Express or Netscape Composer. Not great but more up to date than AOLpress. Again, you will want to validate your html especially to check for cross browser compatability.
It’s not Wysiwyg, but a professional texed based editor with a great interface. It has plenty of “wizards” to automaticly code your page if you’re in a hurry. You can see your page as you create it too. It’s actually an integrated suite of tools. This type of editor gives you total control over page design unlike wysiwyg apps which are very constricted.

Awesome, thanks. Now I’m not limited using only a simple texteditor like metapad.
In france, dreamweaver 2 was released as freeware so maybe you could try to search if it’s a worldwide free distribution…
dreamweaver 2 is cool and efficiant.
well, 1st page (http://www.evrsoft.com) can crash sometimes and has some pretty nasty memory leaks… if it doesn’t bother too much, then i agree it is quite good. another excellent editor (i use this now) is HTML-Kit at http://www.chami.com, which is also good, a little uglier, but i find that it crashes less.
the eversoft 1stpage2000 is a great app, works great on my PowerBook (Virtual PC, win2000 Professional) it’s the best web editor I’ve tried.
<This one is in a class with Blender and GIMP!
And it’s freeware.
the thing i hate about 1stpage is that when ever I scroll to somewhere in the preview, and then change the HTML, the preview goes back up to the top. That sucks. can it be changed?
