Any way I can replicate maya's wrap deformer?

Just to anyone who doesn’t know what the wrap deformer is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIfvbKovHWY
the result of it is in the end of the video. Thanks in advance.

I don’t have Flash so I’ll just make a guess and say: Shrinkwrap modifier.

There are a number of ways to do it. Depending on what you’re doing, you may choose one over another.
Four came to mind, check out the .blend attached (made in 2.5, don’t know if it will work in 2.4x)

Just check out the modifiers panel for each ‘net’ object. Namely, by using the Mesh Deform, Lattice, Shrinkwrap (won’t work well with 3d meshes, but the solidify modifier can suffice in some cases), or Simple Deform modifiers.

I can’t get meshdeform to do just that, but the lattice does it.

Depending on the complexity of the ‘wrap-to’ object you could also use a Curve (modifier) to deform it.

I think happy friar hit it on the head. Thanks! For those of you looking at this as reference and dont care to dl the blend, It’s a lattice. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it.
