Anyone plays Starcraft II?

Hey everyone. Just wondering if any BlenderArtists play Starcraft II  I have the game on trial and I think I’m getting it sometime this week. So if anyone wants to play me, add me as a contact:

Name: Linkxgl
Character Code: 412

For anyone who wants to battle me

Oh, I suck really bad still, so battle me at your own risk or boredom :).

If none of you have Starcraft II what do you think about it? Have you ever played it or heard about it? Have you played the original?

What are your opinions on them?

Don’t buy it. You’ll enjoy single player, then discover that 80% of matches end in the first 5 minutes by someone zerg rushing, and then you have to wait 20 minutes for your teammate to die. After you try to remedy this for a while, you soon realize that 95% is painful memorization of build formulas (and painful memorization is best spent on school), and 5% interesting troop micromanagement.

Might I recommend League of Legends instead…? Bonus: it’s free, and you’d be surprised how the ability to come back from a crappy start makes a game last way longer.

I’ve got it. I play ladder on SEA and custom games on NA (SEA clients have access to both servers :P), I assume you will be getting the NA client so I’ll add you in that. For reference, my character is:
Bentii.854

I have to disagree with ogbog, whilst occasionally someone will rush you as zerg it is quite easy to counter with a few workers. Surviving an early rush will almost always put you at an economic advantage not to mention most of the time you will get rushed or “cheesed” based on your character portrait, that is at least what I have observed from my position. Every game has a learning curve, in SC2 you will have to learn build orders as a basis for what you do (if you want to do it good). League of legends will have a learning curve as well.

Also, why not play league of legends in SC2? Its equivalent is called storm of the imperial sanctum and it is around #3 in the custom games.

I have played many long hours of Starcraft 1 and now happily Starcraft 2 singleplayer, and have put many more hours than that into multiplayer. I consider the singleplayer to be simply a justification for multiplayer, even though the singleplayer is incredibly engaging in both games. The way I think of it, Starcraft is like a game of chess (but much more complicated and) that takes the reflexes of a shooter. I never tire of micromanaging both bases and armies and I think that is what sets the game apart. I also understand that that is not everyone’s cup of tea, for example in ogbog’s case. I like Starcraft because games can end in 10 minutes, and also because a long drawn out game, while exhausting, is very rewarding. I could take the chess analogy further, but I think it’s fairly self explanatory. Like chess, Starcraft is easy to learn the basics but becoming a master is hard to do.

Java

BTW, my name is JavaLodge in game and I think my code is 191. If you’re desperate to find out just PM me.

Wow look at all the long responses lol.

I’ve never played but it looks cool.

Also I have a friend who totally geeks out about it

ALL THE TIME.

For serious (Imma stop sayin’ that now, promise =_=’’ ) .

EDIT:

Oh, and said geekin’ out friend also talks about how he LOVES League of Legends lol!

LoL v WoW <— the EpiC BattlE OF the AgeS

Is it playable in Geforce Go 7400 and 2Gb of RAM ? I remember the great time playing Starcraft Broodwar, hope I have a chance to experience that time again with Starcraft 2

never played scII, kinda put off by the fact that it doesn’t have LAN (South African internet is an absolute joke) but SC and Broodwar were absolutely legend!

wow, looks like some people do play

I just got SCII today, and I’ve been playing for a while. After watching people at school play SCI through LAN, I figured out a really cool build order

I think I did pretty well. After playing for 2 hours, I was able to beat a hard AI in 1 v 1 by imitating a build order in SCI and improving it a little bit.

Just a question, how much AIs can you guys usually beat on your own? 1 v 7? 1 v 4? etc. And what level, if you play SCII.

hmm, I think I’m going to have to look StarCraft up on Wikipedia :stuck_out_tongue: from everyone’s posts, it sounds a bit like Age of Empires…and AoE is my favourite PC game (Age of Mythology is my favourite, to be precise, but AoE in general)…though to be honest I don’t play that many PC games :o hahaha

edit - I can’t seem to find a Demo version of SC1 or 2…is there any place I can find one?

http://www.diablo3.nl/starcraft/scdemo.shtml

Try this link?

Edit: Never mind, but I don’t think it’s pretty easy to find those. For starcraft II, the demo, you need a demo serial number, I think, check the blizzard website, and starcraft I is kind of old. Not sure where you can kind them legally.

wait, is that link for an illegal demo of SC1?

ha ha, no, it looks like it’s on the Blizzard Website. It’s suppose to be a demo. I just typed in Starcraft 1 demo on Google it and it popped up. I’m not totally sure, but I think it’s just a demo :stuck_out_tongue: But the links don’t seem to work.

oh, shoot… :frowning: well, I’ll keep searching the SC2 site, maybe I’ll find something

I have SC2.DCBloodhound Char:355

Bronze in 1v1 (because i don’t have enough time to play) gold in 2v2 (because i won 4 of the league placement matches)
