hello, i am currently modeling a watch for personal purposes. However since it is a watch and the parts are so small and close together i have run into a problem. The glass in the watch has been set to a 0 alpha value, translucency to 1.00 and does not buffer any shadows. When i apply ambient occlusion, however, the inside because all black since the parts are so close together. Without ambient occlusion the render comes out fine (except for the realistic darkening of edges of course) anyway to solve this?
Hmm… could you attach a .blend file please? I’d be happy to help but I’m not quite sure what the problem is. Given enough time, I might be able to help you get the lighting right.
You may want to scale the entire mesh up a bit and try AO again.
Yea, Atom, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I still want the .blend though so I can experiment with it myself.
