AOL SUCKS.
I want to switch from AOL, and be rid of the stupid blocks and time-limits. However, my parents aren’t budging from their opinions. And so…
What’s a good alternative to AOL?
Stay off of the internet. Great alternative and we won’t have to listen to this lame boring crap about your personal life.
Well, MSN is enough like AOL to please most people. The best are often local providers, however.
Why not one of the DSL or Broadband providers other than the big two?

Go for a local ISP, they will give you a good deal, and most of the time the service is better.

People flaming you feels worse than having your fingernails ripped off? Boy…try not to take the forums so seriously and it won’t hurt as much 
It does hurt, however, when people attack my own tastes. How would you like it if I came into your house and destroyed all your DVDs? Though not the same, it’s close.
And I’m talking about emotional response, not physical. When you guys tell me that I do things awfully, that I have poor taste in movies, and that my religion is stupid because they don’t like people seeing R-rated movies and porn, that doesn’t hurt me as physically as getting my fingernails torn off and dipped in acid, but it hurts emotionally to feel like I’m alone in these opinions.
I don’t think R-rated movies are SO bad. At least not all of them. But porn isn’t the greatest thing humanity has created. Here’s a quick thought though: Sex and nudity have existed much longer than the term “pornography”. You be the judge of what you feel is right, and if you feel something is wrong, don’t take part or ignore it. And no religion is stupid. Some of the people who follow them are though. Religion is a concept, not a living breathing entity, therefore it cannot be stupid. Since human beings give it life and embody its existence, only the people who practice the religion can truly be accused of being “stupid”. If you feel alone in your opinions, spend more time in church.
And about insulting your tasted in movies…dude thats just stupid to whine about. Everyone has their own opinions, and when you express yours on an open forum, its a request that everyone express theirs in return, even if it is to tell you to stick it someplace dark.
It only makes it worse when people take it too far and insult me for it.

People will insult you all your life. Everyone gets insulted and has things said to them they don’t like or feel bad for.

You need to grow a thick skin or else you’ll end up in a corner crying. Its part of growing up. Nothing is easy unless you make it that way by not giving a crap about what people say about you. You’ve got your own values, so stick to them and ignore people who have a problem with you.
FACT:
This forum is not for people who cannot deal with people who don’t agree with their opinions. If someone disrespects you for your opinion, thats the breaks. It might not be right but it happens. I personally try to disrespect the opinion, not the person giving it.
