Append tutorials for 2.57

Hello.
I forgot how to add a old Blendfile into my new one I working on .

At 2:43 - 2.49b I used Append, something? At my 2:57 I try to append but this dont work.

I am looking for a tutorial (for2.57) how I can append my old green fish blendfile in to my Ocean project .

Green Fish http://www.pasteall.org/blend/7095 (I will remove the green fish background)

Do you know of any good tutorials

Please only post actual tutorials in the Tutorials forum. I have moved this to the Basics and Interface forum where it is more appropriate.
