Appended Objects slows Cycles to crawl

Hi,

I created a model with fire and smoke which renders reasonably quick (1 minute for 960x540 - 500 samples). I have another file with another complex model which renders reasonable quick (1 minute 960 x 540 - 500 samples).
I appended the model with the fire to the file with the complex model and now it takes 25 minutes to render…what could be causing the horrible speed differences?

Nevermind…I figured it out. The scale of the objects didn’t match. The appended model ended up being 30x larger in scale which changed the smoke domain (and thereby the voxel count). Once I scaled everything down 1/30th it rendered as expected.
