Appending Node Groups

How do you append a node group from one .blend file to another. I’ve been reading brief articles and watched a couple vry old video tutorials on the topic but I cannot get it to work in my Blender 2.68a with cycles.

I can set the nodes up in a group in the first .blend and I can find the node group when I hit append in the second file but I cannot for the life of me get it to show up in a specific cycles material.

How do you do this?

Once you append the node group you will then have to add it to the node tree (Shift+A / Add Group)
