Apply a texture on a curved side

Hi all, I was searching for the solution but couldn’t find it anywhere, so here is my question.

Please see the attachment.

I have a curved face (A), and I need to put a texture (B) to make the object look like having several parallel cuts © (i made this example by hand).

The final texture will not just have the black lines but also texts and other details, that will be on the curved side.

How it is possible to do it?

Thanks in advance for any useful suggestion.

Can you not add the other details on another texture slot ?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Maybe I explained myself wrong. The object that I’m doing is more complex than what is in the attachment shown, which is just an example.
The main point is: how do I place a bitman exactly in the right place?
For example: If i model a wine bottle, and have to put one or more oval labels on it, how do I put the labels exactly where I want them to be?
Thanks.

UV Mapping. See the wiki here:

Thanks for the link, it’s very useful and I’m studing it.
The only problem is that when I arrive to “UV Image Window”, goto Image>New, Blender crash down each time :frowning:

UPDATE: In the end I was able to do all the texturing work, thanks!

I had some problem of crashes, for example also with Archimap script, but I could do it all using the Ukey and loading jpegs.

I still faced two problems that I couldn’t find any help or reference about it:

  1. I applyed a UV map to a face, then I found out that I forgot to do something, so I extruded the face a bit to give a depth, but then I got 4 more faces with the same map, I couldn’t find any way to erase the map from the 4 faces, so I did all the UV mapping from the beginning (which is a good way to learn  ).

  2. I had to do a red leather beleved box with a golden metal side, in the beginning I did it all in one mesh, but then I wasn’t able to add a procedural material to the whole box and at same time a UV map to a single face, somehow everything would get the red material. I also tried to select different UV faces and assign different materials, etc, but nothing… Is it possible to do that? In the end I just added a plane very very close to the face that had to be metallic, and then gave the UV map.

Thanks for the help
