I just have to ask: I need the Child-off modifier to be applied to (too) many bones for a single bone parent.
Settings for parentship: x only pos, no rot, xyz scale. Is it possible to avoid the manual work for each bone separately?
Once you’ve got the constraint you want on one bone, select (in Pose Mode of course) every other bone you want that constraint copied to, then select the original constrained bone last. Go down to the Pose menu and look for the Constraints submenu. There is an option “Copy Constraints to Selected Bones.” This assumes you want all the bones to use the same single target bone.
Excellent! That saves me hours of work -if not days! Thanks Horseman!
You’re welcome. I feel like that option ought to have a keyboard shortcut. To keep it similar to the other constraint-related shortcuts, I made it shift-alt-C (after checking to see if this shortcut already exists; the closest is ctrl-shift-alt-c which moves an object’s origin point in Object Mode). In the Pose menu, right click on the “Copy Constraints to Selected Bones” option and select “Add Shortcut.” Mouse over the resulting dialog box and type the desired shortcut, then hit enter to accept.
I agree about the shortcut, good choice BTW, thanks. I know about that, I’ve made several shortcuts to use with the Logitech Performance MX mouse, some in combination with Ctrl and Shift -mostly for navigation, view change, ortho-persp (its software allows to assign them to the mouse buttons, up to 7 except the left-right buttons).
