I was just seeing if this was practical, applying the filter to 630 layers in GIMP actually did work I was pleased to find, though the ‘8bit’ filter is probably one of the least computationally intense G’MIC filter…

Heh heh. This really caught my attention because I’m a sucker for retro video game graphics styles, although I realize the filter itself isn’t what you posted it to show.
This could be really cool to work with though! I’d never heard of the plug-in, which I just tried and is itself pretty awesome, but using it on frames is a great idea. Thanks for letting us know!
For anyone else trying to find that exact filter in the G’MIC filter list, it’s called “Oldschool 8bit.”
yeah the only thing that is important to get is the ‘export layers to image’ plugin for GIMP, because hiding layers then saving 630 times can get slightly tiresome :p.
