I’m starting, and enjoying, Blender [2.44] but when attempting to do a Mirror Mod [X-axis] it tells me that a Modifier can’t be applied while in Edit Mode. I tried Object and Sculpt; nothing seems to happen; any ideas? Thanks.
2.44 ?
didnt you mean 2.54 ?
when you apply it mirror modifier in object mode it will disappear, and everything is ok
Mirror modifiers are applied in object mode.
What error messages are you getting?
Why are you using blender 2.44 ? 2.49b is the latest stable version.
I had v.2.44 up because that’s what came on the CD. 'Went to the Blender site and downloaded v.2.49. I think I’ve got the Mirror Modifier working now. Thanks.
Hahaha !
This one is great!
What kind of CD?
He found it in the grandfather possessions.
Many blender books come with a cd that has whatever version of blender was current at the time…
Also, it’s easy to get Blender 2.49, thinking it’s the latest, because the two “download” links on the Blender.org homepage point to Blender 2.49. I understand why it’s that way, but that also explains why the uninitiated will often end up with 2.49.
Hauksbee
they’re poking fun at you for using a really old version
the one you’re using is very outdated
get a new one here
http://www.blender.org/download/get-254-beta/
you’ll get better replies to your questions if you ask them in the support forums
go to the main forums page

scroll down to the support forums
probably post questions in the modeling forum
good luck, it’s a wonderful piece of software
NO.
Get the newest version from HERE:
I would suggest to get the Beta of 2.5x and use that one at first. It will be the nearest of what will be the “final” new Blender and many things are too different to get caught in the older version while entering in a learning process. IMO
