Applying rectangular textures to a cone.

Hi all.

I’m relatively new to blender and I’ve been trying to find a solution to this problem over the last day or so without any success.

What’s the best way to apply a rectangular texture to a cone so it wraps around it evenly? This seems like something that people would do often, but I’m struggling to find a solution when searching online.

Many thanks for any help!

By making the texture coordinates rectangular. UV in this case. Can straighten them with follow active quads unwrap.

Thanks for the reply. However I’m a bit confused as to what you are saying i should do, could you explain it a bit?

Normal unwrap would come as U shaped, which would need to be straightened to align with the texture

Here’s how to do that

The mesh has been marked with seams, unwrapped (U -> unwrap). Then in the UV editor the edges are aligned for one face (W -> align auto), the face is selected and then U -> follow active quads.

Ah ok, I understand now. Thank you!
