Are all rendering methods the same?


I was wondering if all 3D softwares use the same base method to render their scene, and if they don’t what are the different methods and are some of them better than otherS, or do they produce a different result?

Short answer: many use similar techniques to Cycles (e.g. Luxrender) Others don’t, e.g. all 3D game engines, blender internal, etc.

However, these techniques are all implemented differently.

at least for raytracers, yes they pretty much use the same algorithms.
