Are there any texture making plugins for Blender

The only ones I’v seen are the ones that come with external renderers, and in order to render with that texture you need to render with the super slow external renderer. I’m just looking for like an external texture maker that can be rendered in the internal renderer for animations. I just find the Blender texturing to be a pain.

Hey, thanks. This site will really help!
But what I’m really looking for is something like LuxRender has but I want to be able to render the texture in the internal renderer
