Arm Twist and Character Creation Vol. 2

I’ve been experimenting with different methods to create a believable arm twist in my character. At first I was trying Delano Athias’ method and while his method was working for the most part he works primarily in Maya and there are some things in his system that don’t properly translate into Blender. I downloaded the Sintel Lite rig and studied that and it seems promising but there are many things that I don’t understand.

What I need is a detailed and in depth tutorial that teaches and clearly explains to me step by step what I need to do to create things like a believable arm twist in Blender. Not just an arm twist either but a believable rig in general that gives me all the control I want and will allow me to animate the mesh any way I want and maintain volume in the mesh. I’ve heard great things about Lee Salvemini’s Rigging DVD (http://www.cgmasters.net/training-dvds/character-creation-rigging/) but I’m hesitant to spend 60 bucks on something I don’t know that much about, other than from a few reviews I read online.

So can anyone tell me, do you have Lee Salvamini’s DVD? Is it worth the money and will it teach me how to create the rig I want for my character?

Also if you know of any other tutorials out there that teach you how to create things like twist systems for the rig please let me know.

Thanks!

Use B-bones and play with the ease-in/out - I don’t see that it’s a big enough issue to spend a lot of time on. If you are trying to do musculature use shapekeys.
Maybe if you have a specific question we could give you better advice. And here’s an endorsement for Nathan Vegdahl’s Humane rigging DVD. A great deal no matter how you look at it - IMO the best and clearest one out there.
