Armature Envelopes

I’m currently working on an armature (in 2.56a Beta) for my character and I’ve been tweaking the envelopes for a while but I’ve come upon this problem and I can’t seem to figure out how to fix it. The armature is the parent of the object mesh which has an object modifier to follow along with it. Here is the image of the problem:

I’ve tried flipping the normals, conforming them, tried some minor weight painting, and nothing seems to be effective at solving the problem. The weight painting seems to affect it a little, but not enough to remove the entire problem.

I can’t quite make out what’s going on in the picture. A .blend file would really help.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that I can do that.

Apply mirror modifier. You must do that before you begin rigging. Or perhaps just ahead in the stack, but I apply mine always.

PS Next time post in the animation forum, that’s usually where we answer rigging problems.
