First Thread… I’m having this problem with the bones, I make them and then when I go to pose mode and rotate/move the bones then nothing happens to the body. I know it’s because the bone isn’t made to be the parent of the body part(s) somehow, and I’d like to know how to do that.
I’m not sure if it’s the “right” way to do it, but I select some vertices, and assigne them to a group with the same name as the bone, then go to object mode, select the mesh first, then the bone, ctrl+P and select “Do not create groups”
Probably not the best way to do it, but it works for me
Thanks a lot, I will try it out.
Edit: That part where you select the mesh and bones, press ctrl + P, and select do not create groups… I don’t get it. In that list there is no such selection, and I don’t know where to select something like that. But I will test again if I did something wrong…
It doesn’t work. Help? Anyone?
I think it goes this way:
when you have all groups populated (with the vertices), you switch back to object mode.
then you select the mesh object, hold shift and select the armature.
next step: ctrl+p
a little popup should appear asking if you want the armature or the object to be the parent (at least i think this is what it means), select “Armature”
another popup will appear with three joices:
- don’t ceate groups
- name groups
- create from closest bones.
the first one is the thing you need as far as i know.
the second would create empty groups for each bone (you could populate them afterwards)
the third would populate groups with the nearest vertices (take care, this can result in a mess sometimes…)
hope this helps
Oh… So Rich was right, I did everything except selected armature because I thought it would be in that selection menu… Thanks.
