All the old videos are now set to private/ unlisted and he’s uploading Christian content now. All the years of valuable educational material from the OG 3ds Max days to the Blender content is now gone, it seems. Any content of his that wasn’t Autodesk sponsored is no longer available or you would have to purchase his course on Udemy.
Very, very strange. I used to watch some of his stuff many years ago when I was a Max user. I watched one of the vids. He sounds like he’s gone full old testament.
Strange indeed. Having to get money for other people, putting stuff on Udemy, which he first said years ago he wouldn’t. Then taking off any of his free stuff. It doesn’t match up.
I’ve no problem with him trying to earn some money from his work, but to block 10 years of content seems like a move completely at odds with the spirit of the 3D community.
Whatever his private ideology is, I don’t care, but from that video I looked at he’s injecting his ideology into the content. Once people start banging on about 3,000 year old mythology in a proselytising fashion I have ZERO interest. I wonder why he didn’t just start a new channel to push his ideology?
I don’t mind him making money off it either. I just pointed out that it’s a departure from his point of view that he brings educational content to people for free.
The ad revenue may have dropped, but to then make a carreer switch as priest… As someone on Youtube pointed out, maybe he started praying too much whenever the software freezes and shows a blank screen.
Seeing that the Autodesk vids were only recently made, perhaps financial (business) issues? The money is for others who depend on him (employees)?
Maybe he converted or something? People often go deep into one religious cult or another as some sort of ‘cure all’ if their life is unfulfilling. I only say that as he has never even hinted at anything like that in 10 years, so it’s highly unlikely that he has been a zealot all along, considering they usually can’t go 10 minutes without talking about it.
You are mistaken if you believe the accuracy of various beliefs can be judged simply by how old they are. Have you seen some of the supposed ‘modern understanding’ lately?
Otherwise, it would’ve made more sense for him to start a new channel. I do not blame him for switching gears though because of just how flooded Youtube has gotten with aspiring 3D teachers, that and how its algorithm encourages and even forces quantity over quality if you want to make any real money. Even more so, the idea of Google actually listening to the creators over things like income is largely a crapshoot, the little guy is pretty unimportant and not worth giving attention to compared to the big headline grabbers.
Of course, but we’re not talking about Greek philosophy here. This is essentially bronze-age magic. Beyond historical or literary interest, it’s something best kept to one’s self.
Can you give some examples, out of curiosity?
Indeed, it’s his life and his time and his channel. It’s not that he did it, but rather the manner in which he did it. Blocking all that content was a very perplexing move.
Sounds like it could be a conversion experience. That can affect people very profoundly and they consequently often make impulsive, deep-reaching changes in their lives, which make little to no sense to random bystanders. Or even people close to them (a former partner of mine went through this, and it threw everything out of whack overnight).
Too bad (my selfish point of view); I liked Arrimus3D’s content and will miss it.
How do you get at his now-blocked content to download it? Does the Wayback Machine facilitate that?
Sadly, that channel hasn’t been archived by the Wayback Machine. There’s a Reddit thread about the situation, but it doesn’t seem to have any archives either.
I could, but it would essentially light the thread ablaze and I do not think the mods would like that. I can just say it has to do with some of the absolute most basic terminology in the English language.
Could it be though, that the breadth of reality extends farther than what can measured or observed directly, perhaps it is time to consider that your grandparents knew more about life and the nature of humanity than once thought.
That is all for now. Again, the forum rules here are quite restrictive in just what can be talked about in this area.
Vey similar for many free software, people use for free ( should say beta test for free reporting bugs and giving feeback), then getting enough popularity the licence changes to paid options.
I don’t know the guy neither whatch his videos, but i guess it is very similar to that or to to many youtubers, growing with good free content then move to paid options once enough followers.
Perhaps this was his goal from beginning or he found recently he could make more money this way because he got enough recognition and quality content.
Not after 10 years of work, and presumably declining view numbers. At least his older vids appeared to be way more popular easily in the 100.000 views already 7 years ago.But his newer vids reached no more than 3000-5000 views.
I can.
“Social Science”.
A ton of what came out of it in the last years, especially coming from partisan “scientists” is junk science (without the science).
It’s also a-social.
Cult and culture are related.
There is the tendency in the higher echelons of power of our societies to believe that culture needs to be programmed into the heads of people, rather than it being an natural developing emergent thing that is done collectively.
Nothing has changed since bronze age magic, the methods just got more sophisticated and more subtle.
Also to give an even more fitting example: transhumanism - the belief that through a technological singularity mankind (or rather a selection of rich and powerful people) gain immortality by taking full control over nature and the evolutionary process of humans (or somehow merge with AI consciousness).
Messing with mRNA and DNA seems to me like the first step of it.
The Hubris is palpable.
But lets not discuss this any further, I feel icky even thinking about it.
