Art of Darkness "Dreams of Flight" Competition

I hope you’ll allow me a little time to advertise a competition we’re running at Art of Darkness. It’s open to 3d (or indeed 2d) images created using any application, including, of course, Blender

It’s called “Dreams of Flight”, and has been sponsored by the well-known artist and modeller, Phoenix1966 (aka Apostle). She is offering a choice from the many high-quality commercial characters she has created, as prizes for the contest. You can see a selection of these in the Renderosity Store HERE. Winners will be able to choose which characters they receive as prizes

There are three topic titles, which can be interpreted as literally, or as figuratively, as desired:

> “Dreams of Flight”
> “Too Close to the Sun”
> “Rising from the Ashes”

The contest runs until 19th August, and further details can be found HERE without having to register at the site; however, in order to submit entries people will need to register at AoD (HERE)

Thanks for your time. Hope to see a few Blender artists participating there

So I saw this and thought I would take a look at the rules. I went the the forum and found the rules under the front of house but they seemed really incomplete to me; no limit on number of images only a deadline and titles for guidelines so I thought that’s weird there must be more to this competition. I registered to look for more rules and I must say I was pretty shocked by what I saw on the forums. I’m not really sure what kind of images you were expecting as submissions, but by the looks of what all was on the forums I’m not perverted enough to place int he competition. Needless to say I won’t enter.

Also as a warning, the site linked to by the op is not work safe in any way.

Yeah, the page I get is;

You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  • You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
  • You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else’s post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  • If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

@ uncle: he linked to the wrong page, you actually have to navigate the site to see it without registering

i’ve updated the rules link

@bulimia: you obviously looked at the artwork there with closed eyes AND you obviously didn’t read the TOS before registering, as the front of house rules very specifically suggested that you should do, otherwise you’d have know what to expect

i hope you didn’t register there under false pretenses? it clearly states that you have to be 18 or over in order to be a member, and i guess from your childish attitude that you’re probably not

@everyone else: yeah, it’s not a site you should browse from work, but then you shouldn’t browse ANY site from work that isn’t related to your work, otherwise the IT guys will know, and you’ll get fired

if you’ve got an open mind you will find a great deal of sophisticated and classy artwork on the site. it’s an adult site, sure, but it’s an adult ART site. the emphasis is very much on the art

You’re right I didn’t read your TOS I just clicked accept so pin it on me if you want but I’m sure that just about everyone here in this forum would agree with me that CG fetish porn is not an art. Especially when people just use stock models and props and pose them however they feel. The only reason I registered in the first place was to see if there were any more rules in the competition.

I’m not saying that there was absolutely no art on your site, there was, but it was few and far between and the rest was just poorly done porn. It’s not my attitude that is childish, it’s your inability to think beyond fetish porn.

Is there a place for nudity in art? Yes. Is there a place for seductive poses? Yes. Is there a place for a stock CG man to choke a stock CG woman (poorly posed) with a belt and ejaculate on her? You tell me…
