Artifacts in background

Hey all! I made this lovely model of The Penguin from Batman. I put in a very shallow depth of field. When i animate it and zoom i’m getting a lot of pixelation/artifacts in the background.
Rendering with 1100 samples
Mpeg 4
H.264
Medium Quality

Otherwise, everything else is default.

Any tips??? Thank you!!!

Hi, from what I know, the artifacts are caused by denoising. You have to increase the samples in order to reduce them. Another option is to try different denoisers. Optix gives painterly artifacts whereas open image denoiser is more of blotchy moving artifacts. NLM is similar to that. So there is another solution, which is called temporal denoise but its not avaliable on Blender. Great animation! ( You can try Neat Video for temporal denoise, there is a free demo on their website but its a plugin for softwares like Premiere and etc.)

Awesome thanks for the compliment and note!

Just a note, if anyone stumbles upon same issue here - like I just did

“Turbo” recently introduced temporal denoiser for Cycles:

Oh & BTW…
Awesome work!!!
