I have two single strips in one object. I want to partly weld some vertices together so the two strips are become one at some point- To make it easier already snapped these these verts on the same location. On some parts the weld modifier is working and on some parts it gives me these strange artifacts. I also tried a tiny offset betwenn the verts and flipped the normals. Can’ find the problem. Hope the pictures are enough for now. Sure I could apply most modifers and fix it there, but I want to keep the modifiers for later edit and recycle in other projects.
Since you’re welding after Solidify, your geometry may look very different from what you’ve set up
It seem to me like welding solidified mesh is just asking for non-manifold geometry - you’ll get interior faces.
There could be a number of reasons.
Observe how the edges change with the X-ray wireframe view.
It’s thought to be the influence of one of the modifiers.
Thats probably the reason. I thought the faces would be removed as well woth the weld mod. I tried using the rim option in the solidifier. I can get this part weld together nicely, but it opens up way more problems on the rest of the object ( more non-manifold-faces, problems with the bevel mod , weld mod not working properly etc.) I think it doesn’t work like I wanted it ;D
Applying some modifiers, deleting faces and merging verts was sadly the only thing that worked.
