Artifacts

I’ve been playing with this for a while now, but I can’t seem to get rid of the artifacts. They are shown in the attached picture.

Also, how would I make the whole face somewhat wider along the X axis? So it continues to be attached to its mirror and the center verts don’t move, but the rest stretches out some from that?

Thanks!

Ctrl+n to recalculate normals. This should fix the black sections.

That did it, thanks!

Hi,

Position the 3D cursor on the x-axis (use Shift S>Cursor->Grid to snap it to the grid). Then change the pivot point to the 3D cursor (see attached image). Then you can scale using S and constrain it to the x-axis with X.

Hope this helps.

I’ll try it out when I get back from work, thank you.

Also, you can have center vertices stay fixed to the mirrored portion of the mesh by enabling “Do Clipping” in the mirror modifier properties.
