Compositing this shot in 2.8
a simple hdr image to tint the scene and a 3 point light for the character
I rendered in different renderlayer( or view layer now)
This is a wip of compositing, not the final result. Just a first tree comp set.

I’m looking to do something like this for my own animation. You said you used dynamic paint, is that just for the water? Do you need any sort of physics on the boat so that it sits on the water like that?
(Sorry still a newbie and learning the tricks of the trade)

I really like this though, some great work you’re doing. Can’t wait to see more.
