Aryll's Tower Zelda: Wind Waker Update What else?

Here, I’m trying to make all my work from when I started Blender several months ago and making them better.

Well it looks like you’ve got a good start,
is it supposed to look realistic or like in WW
which was much more cartoony

Looks good so far, except for the water abruptly ending and the weird shadows on the sand in the lower right corner.

The ladder looks out of proportion (too small), but otherwise it’s a good render.

ahh i love this game, alllmost as good as OoT :wink: , looking very nice, I cant say i remember how big the ladder was, but it was small, thge way the characters are styled in the game, that might very well be the right size.

Lighting is nice, watch out for perspective problems on the sky/sea meeting place, if you cut the image off below horizon it may look a lot better, from that camera angle theres no way you would be able to see horizon…or you may, but then clouds just need a bit more of a squash toward horizon =)

Everytime I look at this thread I am hoping to see something awesome. Right now its cool but it could use more fine detail work.

For instance:

The bottom platform could be more detailed instead of a textured cube
Same for the top plat form.

I like the pole

The cover on top looks like wood? Is it cloth?

Maybe more support sticks to hold the roof up sticking out.

I loved that game.
When I first saw the title I thought it would be in toon shading to look like the game. I think if it was like that the weird proportions would look less weird. Other than that, like others pointed out the persective and horizon are kind of odd looking. All in all it looks pretty good.

This is were you can walk up to the latter. The proportions are weird, but if I can’t make them right, I’ll just make my own.

I’ve checked the game and it made the ladder’s proportion look even worse. The dock is wide enough for one character, so the ladder should be a respectable size.

I know this is nitpicky, but it glares at me.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Thanks for the info, I was trying to find a way I could measure the ladder, as that’s the only proportion wrong. I’ll have to find a good human model for reference.

Here is the deck I updated some. I know the wood posts are weird looking, but i’ll just have to work on it some more. Hey, does any one know how to make the bump maps sharper without disabling OSA?

Here I got rid of some stuff. It should be obvious what. I also put new stuff in. I am going for more photorealisim than the game. And also less cartoony. It’s really hard making cartoony stuff while putting realistic textures on it!

Do you know any general CG tips? This forum seems to be missing some. For instance, did you know that to make GI work correctly in Blender you need a sky map? Or more like using a bump map as a specularity map. Do you know anything like this? I would also like C&C. Say, thanks!

I don’t know how to make that roof look not wierd. The roof boards(they are all seperate objects) on the left side of the pic seem to be set to smoothed. But they’re not.

Here, I put an ocean. I am going to make the base for people to stand on. That’s were you climb a ladder and look around. It’s going to be under the roof. Wadda think? What do I need?

Now im impressed! I have no crits as of now…

Ok, I’m getting pretty happy with the results, but do you know of anything I might use to fill up the scene? C&C , as always, is always appreciated.
