Meh, once you’ve played around with aalib, you never go back…

Realtime movies via ascii art. There’s nothing like it. Grab “bb” - all decent linux distros should have it.

At first I thought it was jaws or something but couldn’t really tell. phlip, I am either really dumb or the page doesn’t show me where to download it. (Yes I am extremly lazy)

aalib is a library - that’s what the “lib” means. So it’s not something you probably want to download on its own. I’m guessing you’re using Windows, in which case you want to go to that page I linked above, scroll down to “BB-the portable demo”, click that, and download the DOS binary (which I assume runs under Windows).

Though if you want real action, watching movies or playing games through aalib, you probably need linux. Ubuntu has aalib in its base install, and all the important things (mplayer, SDL, etc) are configured to use it. Other distros I don’t know, you might need to recompile the program in question to get aalib support.

[edit] If you want fun… play frozen-bubble with aalib… or any other game that forces you to recognise colours…
Not even colourblind mode helps, the detail just isn’t high enough… I made it to level 3 through pure luck, not gonna get any further though.

Thanks but I don’t have linux, sucks. I hope to get a linux sometime soon though. Frozen Bubble comes with Linux Ubantu right? I was wondering where the windows download was :stuck_out_tongue:

Multi Acii Art is a little freeware software which I’ve had some very good results with. It’s able to make HTML files in colour aswell! Only thing is that it’s in Spanish (or something like that) only, but it’s not too complicated and you bet you’ll be able to figure out how it works aswell…
