So…how many times have one of you posted an obvious question about something in your CG (without reading the manual, of course), and felt embarrassed for doing so?
That’s happened to me a few times, can’t name how many times it occured while I was still a blender n00b…this week I’ve been juggling school and an architectural piece for a pending manga page, I’ve been working with YafRay, and I asked an obvious question. It was one about why I’ve been getting all these weird render artifacts that look like a textured light source although I have no textures on my lightsources. I actually looked at the manual for a change, and now I have my answer.
Im just a magucal person, Ive never made a mistake. I never do anything dumb. I dont even brag. Im just amazing like that. Im even a non-judgmental person. I cant imagine being such a moron to make a mistake

]um? Im not sure. ohhh
Once (looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago) My renders were getting all these nasty gross lines. They werent smooth or anything. What had happened? I had accidentally turned of OSA and saved the theme and(oops) button options and layout
I’ve made so many stupid mistakes of the I-can’t-figure-out-why-this-looks-so-weird-oh-wait type, that I wouldn’t even know where to start, man. And I just know some of the mistakes I’m making with that sea monkey (horrible shading artifacts) are surely solved with a single button…
I once asked how to save a render…
But I swear I looked everywhere, even scanned through the manual but didn’t find out. Imagine how dumb I felt when they said to just push F3!
I don’t really ask stupid questions, pretty much because I don’t ask any questions.
Man, have I made some dumb answers though, not to mention replying in the wrong thread.
I usually wait for other people to ask the the dumb questions I’d like to ask, it’s a good way to not get embarrassed. Basically, search the forums, there is almost always someone who asked already. It’s usually a good way to not look like a newbie even when you are (in any situation).
blender is such a multifaceted piece of software that basically everything is only buried about 3 inches below the surface… some maybe 5 inches (some more). But the thing is that there are SO many different surfaces to dig into - that’s how when you ask a question like “HOW TO COPY LOGIC BRICKS”, even though you already know about Expressions controllers and Python modules and setting up a scene and all of that
it may have a very obvious answer once you know exactly HOW to look for it.
but until you know how to look for it, you may be in for a challenge.
The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked and therefore unanswered.
Oh, man. A few months ago in Blender I somehow got the Start Frame higher than the End Frame. And then I tried to press Alt + A, but nothing happened. Then I tried to Animate, but nothing happened. I just couldn’t figure it out. So I posted it on the Blender Forums. It had loads of other users stumped. I stuck a screen shot up, and after a while someone pointed out to me the mastake I made!
