Asset Browser- Thumbnails- Quality etc (not pose library)

Hey all,
I’ve been finding mixed information on this. I have just updated to the latest stable release. I figured it was time to sort out a new asset library. I’m running into some issues with the thumbnails.
Simply put the quality is awful. they seem very low res. I can’t find a setting to change this and any changes I make to the workbench or viewport render settings do not appear to make any difference.
I did read somewhere that this is still wip and maybe this is just they way things are at the moment, but I thought i’d ask before undertaking a huge workload to create my new library.

any help/tips appreciated.

I’m not sure, I think it’s designed to work fast and efficient and always give some results.
But these thumbnails can be changed , and there are probably some scripts around that allow you to render them better.

I’ve made a little utility (python scripts) for myself to get better thumbs for materials .

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some addons that help to automate some tasks and provide better thumbs.

Good luck !

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I read about a few addons, but they seemed quite out of date. I looked at machin3tools, it has a great feature for groups of objects, but the thumbnail option is still partially manual and not the sort of thing you use to batch assets.

I was hoping I could at least change the viewport options, i.e the lighting and cavity settings. seems its only the materials ‘viewport display’ option that has any effect. The current thumbnails are fine for many objects but when the surface details are high it just looks like a mushy blob.
I might just have to do a second pass and manually adjust the ones that are difficult to read.
