Asset management workflows in production?

I’m looking for information and resources about how people manage asset libraries in medium/large projects. What I mean by that is projects with libraries of 100+ assets (textures, materials, meshes, etc) and multiple .blend files referencing those assets. I’m wondering how people usually store, access, link, and organize the files in productions. I know there are a few different software solutions to this, so I’m curious which are most popular and what sorts of things people do using just native blender.

Any insights or places I could read more?
