On discord the developer said, that they are only supporting stables versions of Blender for the lack of time. So you will have to wait until the final version of 2.9 is released.
But I see where you are coming from. There are a lot of improvements coming to 2.9 already which people want to take advantage of. But the lack of an essential addon like Asset Management (which I use all the time) prevents one from doing so. I might work in 2.9 as well but for said reasons don’t.
