Assign names to different parts

Hi,

this is my first post so excuse me if this is the wrong place to ask. My problem is that i am reading a tutorial and creating a model with different parts. I would like to know how to take each of these parts and assign them a different name. There is a part somewhere in the interface called “ITEM”, but i don’t know where it is of how to use it. Hope u understand my question. Regards,

Press N for the properties panel. There is a section called Item where you can rename the object
or
In the properties window under the object settings (cube icon) you can rename the object
or
In the Outliner window Ctrl+LMB on the object to rename
