Assigning UV map to multiple materials

I have an object I imported with my UV Map. What I want to do is Create new materials, then assign the UV to the new materials…so that all the faces share the new materials. How do I do this?

Thanks

Your question is unclear what you want. Show us a clear example of what you want.

What I want to do is Create new materials, then assign the UV to the new materials
Create a material then if you want to apply a texture to that material select the object UVs as the texture mapping. UVs are part of the object which can be used by a material

so that all the faces share the new materials
Not sure what this has got to do with UVs. If an object has a material you can assifn that material to any selected face in edit mode

Im not real blender savvy, Lightwave is my primary app, but I use blender as a go between for some projects… so I’m sure its probably simple.

Ok…say I have a box. It has a Material already assigned to all the faces with a uvmap. I want to essentially duplicate that material and
uv settings so that all the faces are assigned to all the materials

Are you talking about materials or textures ? The UVs assign textures to faces not materials (blender speak)

Again more info, show us something, a visible example (ideally a blend file you have)

In the materials panel you can use the icon below the +/- buttons to copy and paste a material

Ok, here is the test file im using.
