What would be the best approach to quickly moddeling several unique asteroids?
I tried displacement mapping, but it looks too much like the original primitive. I would like to make the asteroids as realistic as I can (ie, shy away from the almost perfect spherical look or cube look).
Create an icosphere with subdivision 1 and W > Subdivide Fractal anywhere between 40% and 60%.
With that, or on a different mesh, you can deselect all verts (A) and then go to (in the 3D window toolbar) Select > Random. Set it to what ever value you wish and scale or rotate the verts.
