And - here is my current WIP. I have dumped a lot of hours into this so far and am about halfway through, I think. I was online researching some of the WAY COOL early Star Wars miniatures (used in the original Eps IV, V, VI). I was so drawn in by the level of details/greebles that it inspired me to do a fresh SW-based ship of my own, this time going beyond my normal ‘concept’ levels.
Normally I don’t prefer to post WIP stuff . . . but I’m so pleased with how this is looking so far. I’m really liking the less-is-more look of the materials so far. Again, a long way to go still.
But anyway, I hope you enjoy this early-look! :RocknRoll:
Here is the finished RI Venom. Spent a lot of time with this one. Have a few things I could still tweak but, for now, I’m done. I hope you enjoy. (I am posting this in the Finished Section also but plan to post additional views in here, hopefully later this week.)
@Raven IIC - Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it! Yes, I was heavily inspired by Star Wars with this one. (And, believe it or not, there is actually a droid embedded above and behind the cockpit. My buddy said it was R2-G4. Ha!! These views don’t show it very well, but it’s there. I may post some closer views of it, later.)
And . . . here’s a basic turn-around with the Venom. I recently learned a great way to automatically create blinking nav lights and was testing it out. After I had already rendered a bunch of animation plates, I realized I had forgotten to apply the mirror-mod first . . . so I ended up with only one blinker on the upper port-side wing. Ha!! Oh well. At least I learned the techniques, which is the important thing. I’ve posted it on my YouTube channel, as follows:
(I noticed the YT upload didn’t turn out as nice as my file so may’ve been influenced by compression or something. It actually looks a lot better than the view but, again, the techniques were learned.)
@norvman - Thanks for the feedback. It does look like a miniature. I had already considered that, and failed to mention earlier, that I was going for a tilt-shift sorta vibe (which by nature gives off the miniature vibe). But I will definitely keep that in mind for future projects. Thanks again!
Still having some fun with logos. Here’s a custom wallpaper I made of my favorite NFL team; DENVER BRONCOS. (Denver is my ‘home’ though I’m currently in Music City USA. Hope to get back there to stay, soon.) I was really pleased with this. Hope you enjoy!
I made this for one of my good friends. I’m not a heavy soccer follower but enjoyed creating this for him. He requested a similar-style one after seeing my BRONCOS version.
The team logo’s look really great Astro1derboy. Did you create the rest of the horse on your own, or did someone else? I think I have only seen the head before, (other than the old logo which had the rearing back horse.)
Just watched your show reel. Very impressive. Caught me by surprise when there was a frog, then an eagle. Your traditional art is really nice, shows your more than just spaceships. Then to find out you did the music too. Even more impressive.
@Ryeath - Thanks much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the work. Yes . . . I do a-lot-of-a-lot of things. :RocknRoll: (Did you catch that I did manage to sneak in a penciled aircraft too? Ha!!) Anyway . . . glad you enjoyed the work. That Broncos logo is their full version. The head-only version is what currently adorns our helmet now but the full version was also released by them simultaneously. If memory serves me correctly, it was somewhere around 1996-97. Don’t quote me on that one. Ha!!
And, speaking of logos . . . here’s another honeycomb-base style wallpaper I made for a buddy. Hope you enjoy!
@michalis - Thank you for the kind words, as always. You are also an inspiration to me and I really appreciate it!!
And . . . here’s yet-another simple honeycomb-style computer desktop wallpaper for another buddy of mine. I have a few more of these to do then I will be back to some other projects. (I have some fresh ship ideas that are vying for priority to get completed.) So many things to do . . . so little time. Ha!!
@Raven IIC - Thanks for the kind reply!! Glad you like them!
And, in keeping with my previously shown wallpaper-styling, here are a couple of variations made for another friend. Though not a Steelers fan, I had a lot of fun creating these. (I decided to try a version with the three-colored stripes instead of just the traditional yellow. It gives off a different vibe but I like them both.) I hope you enjoy!
Here’s a look down one of the creepy hallways of Katie’s Regional Asylum, toward Ward 4E. This particular Ward has been known to be a hotbed of paranormal activity for quite some time (for example, why do the lights remain partially lit when there’s been no electricity to the facility for years). Honestly, this place is creepy. Everywhere you walk on this campus makes you feel as though you’re not alone. Probably aren’t . . .
I have this thing for creepy hallways. Granted, the fetish isn’t nearly like my love for all-things-that-fly but still . . . :o
Here is another DENVER BRONCOS computer wallpaper I made. I have a full-color version done but am planning to include it with some other items before fully rendering. However, I really like this minimalistic look and decided to go ahead and post this first. I had been debating on whether to post now or post all of them together.
Design notes - I based this design from our previous ‘classic D’ logo, with the current logo. The original snort-steam didn’t appeal to me with it’s simplicity so I created a new one to better align with the current logo styling. I was really pleased with this. (Took me several iterations to settle on the final, one that wasn’t too complicated to overpower the main logo yet trendy enough to fit.)
